Tim Dupell Discusses the Programs Offered by Family Help and Wellness
Tim Dupell of Family Help and Wellness provides residential treatment for children, teens, and young adults. Family Help and Wellness has a total of 19 treatment programs across the country, and works with each family to determine the best program for their unique needs.
Residential Treatment Centers
Residential treatment centers are designed for those with intense struggles. The average length of stay is 8 to 12 months. These programs are designed to create lasting change through a comprehensive treatment approach that allows individuals to heal and improve life skills.
One of the residential treatment centers supported by Family Help and Wellness is Equinox, located near Asheville, North Carolina. Tim Dupell notes that this program is a trauma-informed residential treatment center for young men ages 14-18 struggling with relational trauma, grief, anxiety, and/or depression. Therapists at this center utilize the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM) for long-lasting change.
Wilderness Therapy
Wilderness therapy is an excellent choice for short-term treatment. It allows students to step away from distractions and experience the wilderness, which can help build resilience and confidence.
These programs pull individuals out of typically unhealthy daily routines or patterns. Natural settings are scientifically proven to have cognitive benefits, assisting both emotional and mental health. Wilderness programs typically last 60 to 90 days.
BlueFire Wilderness is an outdoor therapy program supported by Family Help and Wellness. This Idaho-based program is suitable for all genders 13-17 and adults 18-26.
BlueFire takes pride in offering twice as much group and individual therapy as most other wilderness programs. Clients are involved in setting treatment goals instead of a predetermined-level approach.
Assessment Centers
Determining the best treatment program can be challenging. Assessment centers provide the opportunity to get to know the client. Staff will provide a diagnosis and begin the treatment process.
After building a comprehensive treatment plan, the client will move on to a program which best meets their individual needs. The length of stay at an assessment center is typically one week to 45 days.
The ViewPoint Center is an assessment center supported by Family Help and Wellness. ViewPoint offers health and classroom assessments, specialty psychiatric care, medical treatment, and education to clients of all genders between the ages of 12-17.
ViewPoint focuses on early treatment and stabilization. Additionally, clients struggling with addiction can receive detox treatment.
Transitional Living
Transitional living allows clients who have completed a residential treatment program to transition back to traditional living. It’s often recommended for young adults who need help adapting to life independently.
Clients enjoy both personal agency and supportive structure at these next-step programs. Therapists and staff work with clients to practice therapeutic skills learned in their prior program and gain priceless life-skills for continued wellness.
One of the transitional living programs supported by Family Help and Wellness is Journey Home, located in Layton, Utah. This program works alongside the Solstice programs to provide 16-21 year old girls and individuals assigned female at birth with continued therapy, life skills, and employment coaching after graduating traditional residential therapy programs.
