Pamina Barkow, Owner and CEO of Orange County Pain Management has been nominated for the annual Orange County Business Journal 2021 Women in Business Awards. Pamina’s nomination recognizes her outstanding business acumen. As a visionary CEO, she spearheaded the tremendous growth of Orange County Pain Management and created a dynamic team.

The Orange County Business Journal is an authoritative, concise, and entertaining weekly publication that delivers a comprehensive package of news and information regarding Orange County companies, industries, and business people. In its bid to honor exceptional professionals as well as businessmen and women that have contributed to the development of the County,  Orange County Business Journal created area specific awards. One such award is the Orange County Business Journal Women in Business Awards.

Orange County Business Journal 2021 Women in Business Awards recognizes exceptional women in business in Orange county. Orange County Business Journal profiles professionals and businesswomen with a high business acumen who can successfully lead their company and employees. This year, the Orange County Business Journal Women in Business Awards received over 100 nominations, and those selected represent “the county’s most successful professional and business women.”

Pamina is not your everyday healthcare businesswoman. She has co-founded several businesses and played an instrumental role in seeing them to their growth. In 2008, Pamina Barkow co-founded Orange County Pain Management, medical clinic that offer healthcare services in the field of pain, spine, and longevity to Orange County residents for over a decade. As a visionary CEO, she spearheaded the strategy and growth of the company, transforming the group of clinics into one of the largest in South Orange County. In 2018, her husband, a Pain Management Physician and co-founder, passed away. Determined, she continued running and growing the business on her own. She expanded the business further by adding more locations and services. In 2021, she led a Merger and Acquisition deal for the sale of the clinics which closed in April after fierce national bidding.

Pamina has worked on other ventures as well. In 2013, she used her Clinical Nutrition background to co-found IllumiNutri supplements. This supplement line was created to help naturally increase the relief of Pain Management patients. Prior to co-founding healthcare businesses, Pamina was in the field of marketing. She had worked with two different real estate firms leading their Latin American division for large scale real estate developments.

Pamina has also become a prominent community leader. After earning her MBA from the Merage School of Business at UCI, she has been committed to mentoring young entrepreneurs. She currently chairs the Board of Dean’s Leadership Circle, for the Merage School of Business, at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). She is also the Vice-Chair of the board for the Beall Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Merage School of Business, UCI. Pamina is a frequent featured speaker on the topics of entrepreneurship, healthcare, nutrition, business, and leadership throughout the community. Pamina gives back to the community through charitable works. She is involved in multiple charities, including donations and scholarships to the less privileged in Orange County.

The Orange County Business Journal 2021 Women in Business Award will honor five exceptional business and professional Orange county women at an award ceremony that will be held on October 28, 2021.
